How Air Purifiers Work

Air purifiers are mainly composed of motors, fans, air filters, etc.

The main working principle of the air purifier is: the motor and fan in the machine circulate the indoor air, and the polluted air will remove or adsorb various pollutants after passing through the air filter unit in the machine. pollutants are removed.

The mainstream air purifiers on the market mainly have three different working principles. The following is the introduction of these three working principles.

1. Mechanical filtration purification principle (filter purification)

The main principle of the mechanical filter air purifier is: to use a fan to draw air into the machine and purify the air through the built-in filter, which can filter fine particles, dust, odors, harmful gases, and bacteria in the air. The filters are mainly divided into particulate filters and gaseous pollutant filters. The particulate filter is divided into the coarse filter and fine particle filter.

The quality of the fan and filter screen of this type of product determines the effect of air purification. The location of the machine and the layout of the room will also affect the purification effect.

2. Electrostatic purification principle (no filter type)

The principle of the electrostatic air purifier is to use a high-voltage electrostatic field to ionize the gas so that the dust particles are charged and adsorbed to the electrodes. This is a way to both ensure air volume and absorb particulate matter. The biggest advantage of this type of product is that the noise level of the air purifier can be better controlled due to the lower wind resistance, and the dust collection unit can be cleaned repeatedly without frequent replacement; however, the disadvantage is that there may be a problem of excessive ozone release. (China stipulates that in the living environment when the ozone concentration exceeds 0.1ppm, it constitutes air pollution)

The electrostatic purification technologies on the market mainly include high-voltage electrostatic dust collection, low-temperature plasma technology, purification ion group technology, hydrated ion technology, and negative ion technology.

3. Compound type purification

This purifier is actually a product that combines mechanical filtration purification and electrostatic purification technology.
